It All Starts With Guinness Beer…

I married a beer drinker.

Before Lt. Dan, I really didn’t appreciate beer. However, over the years he has slowly introduced me to beers I now enjoy.

It all started with my first taste of Guinness.

Compared to the bitter hoppy beers I had tried (and snubbed) before, Guinness has a lovely malted coffee note… And beer that sort of tastes like coffee was something a could appreciate.

Although drinking a dark rich beer is something I now do on occasion, when we’re in a celebratory mood, like on St. Paddy’s Day, it’s fun to mix things up a bit.

That’s where beer floats come in…

Guinness Float Recipe Ingredients

The best thing about this “recipe” is that it requires only 2 ingredients.

  • Guinness Stout Beer
  • Chocolate Ice Cream

You can use any variety of Guinness you like. Here I’m using Extra Stout. And yes, you could use vanilla ice cream, espresso ice cream, or really any flavor you think will complement the flavor of the beer.

However, I personally think chocolate ice cream is the best choice, because they are both dark strong flavors, so one flavor doesn’t overpower the other.

How To Make Guinness Floats

This is so easy guys…

  1. Scoop chocolate ice into a glass.
  2. Then pour a Guinness over the top.

You could fuss-it-up a bit with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and/or chocolate shavings, but really it’s not necessary.
