How to Make Our Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits Recipe

The secret to making our super easy savory snack is to use a food processor to prepare the dough.

Simply pulse all of the biscuit ingredients together (minus the melted butter and parsley for topping), then scoop the dough onto baking sheets that are lined with parchment paper.

An ice cream scoop lightly coated with nonstick spray works well for creating perfect little mounds.

Legendary Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 450° F. Pour the dry ingredients into a food processor, then add the cold butter and pulse until the butter is chopped into small pieces. Then pour in the milk and pulse to combine. Finally, add the shredded cheddar and pulse to combine until the final dough forms.

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Use a 3 tablespoon scoop to place even portions of biscuit batter onto the prepared baking sheet, two inches apart. Bake for approximately 10 minutes until golden brown.

Meanwhile, whisk the melted butter and parsley together in a bowl for the biscuit tops. After the Cheddar Bay Biscuits come out of the oven, lightly brush the tops with melted parsley butter. Serve warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Make this Cheddar Biscuits Recipe Gluten-Free?

I have not attempted to use any alternatives to all-purpose flour for this recipe, but you can certainly give it a try.

You will need to use an all-purpose 1-to-1 ratio gluten-free flour mix with xanthan gum to get the best fluffy texture and rise. Let me know in the comments if you try this substitute!

Do I Have to Use Old Bay Seasoning?

While Old Bay is not essential for the baking process, I do highly recommend using it to get that crave-worthy copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuit flavor.

If Old Bay isn’t available, you can substitute it with a blend of paprika, ground mustard, and celery salt.

How Long Do Cheddar Bay Biscuits Keep Well?

You can store these biscuits at room temperature in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

You can warm them up in the microwave with a wet paper towel for a few seconds for a warm biscuit and melted sharp cheddar cheese on your own table.

To freeze, individually wrap each biscuit and then store together in an airtight container or freezer bag for up to 1 month.

No Buttermilk or Eggs For This Recipe?

In most southern biscuit recipes, you do stir in some buttermilk, but this biscuit mix does not need the buttermilk to help it rise. The same goes for the eggs.

  2. If you don’t have a food processor, could you use a whisk or a mixer?

    • Hi Rhazya,

You can mix it with a pie crust cutter, or two forks, to make sure the butter is cut into the dough leaving little flecks of butter throughout. That will produce a better texture than a mixer. :)

  3. Yum!
Very delicious and easy! Better than Red Lobster!

  4. Easy and quick recipe. Yet so on point and delicious 😋
    Thank you.

  5. Amazing. I made 12 and ate 10.

  6. Delicious! Best cheddar biscuits ever! Used Cabots Habanero Cheddar for an extra kick and didn’t even add the melted butter at the end. Much better than Red Lobster.

  7. tasted amazing

  8. Just made these in my Corsori air fryer. 350 deg for 12 minutes. Delicious!

  9. This was incredibly delicious, and , unfortunately, just as addictive as the ones at Red Lobster😋.  Easy to make, too, and I made only half the recipe, but used the exact amount of ingredients.  The only item I didn’t have on hand was the parsley, so I chopped up some green onions instead, to maintain the “green bits” on top.  Thanks so much for sharing.

  10. These are wonderful! I misread the recipe and only put in 1 teaspoon of garlic instead of a tablespoon so I just added garlic to the parsley butter on top. Defiant a keeper recipe!  Thank you!

  11. I made these and this recipe is FANTASTIC! Thank you somuch my family loved them!

  12. Hi, what would you substitute for ground mustard to make your home made old bay seasoning? thank you for the recipe!!! can’t wait to make today :)

  13. Very easy. They were a hit with the family. Will definitely make again. I didn’t have any Old Bay and simply added dried mustard, paprika and celery salt as an alternative. Turned out great!

  14. Melt in your mouth biscuits! Love how they are better than the real thing!

  15. Truly the best biscuits that I have tasted! I think it tastes just like the original rolls from Red Lobster!

  16. Nothing beats homemade biscuits! My kids devoured these!

  17. Made these last night for the topping of a chicken and biscuits casserole. I’ve tried other Cheddar Bay biscuit recipes before, and this was by far the tastiest. I’ll probably cut the Old Bay back a little next time, as they were a touch salty for my taste. I live at 7000 feet, so baked goods can be a challenge, but these did beautifully. Will definitely make these the next time we have crab legs!

  19. goodness gracious those look delicious!

  20. These look awesome! Wish I had some to go with our dinner tonight!

  21. Any idea what you could replace Old Bay Seasoning with? I live in Africa and would love to make these biscuits but we can’t get it here

    • Hi Caroline, Old Bay Seasoning mix includes mustard, paprika, celery salt, bay leaf, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, mace, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom, and ginger. I’d probably simplify a mix of paprika, ground mustard, and celery salt.

  22. Any hints on oven temp?

  23. Well there is never a day I would pass up one of these biscuits!! Hands down scrumptious!

  24. Oh man do these look good. So light and fluffy. If these were in front of me I am pretty sure I couldn’t just eat one.

  25. There is literally nothing on the this earth I want more than one of these right now. Not chocolate. Not french fried. Not pizza. Just THESE biscuits.

  26. Yum, Ready to make these now…what temp should the oven be?

  27. Holy moly, these look incredible!

  28. Oh man these look WAYYYY better than RL’s! Love that they’re put together all in a food processor. Totally happening in my kitchen!

  29. What I would do for a dozen of these biscuits right now!!!!

  30. jeez. these look delicious!

  31. My step mom is obsessed with those biscuits and buys the mix to make them at home from the grocery store. I’ll have to send this along to her,

  32. ive actually never been there, but these biscuits look crazy good!
