Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples
Easy Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples that taste amazing as a southern side dish, or as a topping for oatmeal, pancakes or ice cream!
When I think of fall, I think of apples.
And when I think of apples, I think of apple pies, apple sauce, apples and creamy caramel, and of course cinnamon apples!
So of course fall is my favorite season.
I’ve made cinnamon apples many times over the years, and I’ve discovered that cooking them in a slow cooker is not only the easiest way to cook them, it develops the best flavor.
Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples have a rich flavor and an ultra silky texture, from cooking low and slow over several hours.
They would be delicious with just a little butter, sugar and cinnamon. However, I’ve found adding two secret ingredients makes Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples even more wonderful…
Apple Butter + Bourbon.
Yep, a little Musselman’s Apple Butter and a nip of bourbon provide depth and complexity to cinnamon apples. The rich dark apple essence of Musselman’s Apple Butter intensifies the natural flavor of the apples, bringing out the very best of their autumn appeal!
Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples are great as a side dish, yet here are a few other tasty ways to enjoy them…
- On Oatmeal
- On Pancakes or Waffles
- Over Ice Cream
- In an Apple Pie Milkshake
- On a Grilled Cheese Sandwich
- Over Baked Brie
- On a Cheese Board
- Stuffed in Cinnamon Rolls
- Over Pound Cake
- In a Cocktail or Punch
- On a Dessert Pizza
- Over Pork Chops, Pork Belly, or Chicken
- On Peanut Butter Crackers or a Peanut Butter Sandwich
Just to name a few.
Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apples are a must-make recipe this fall, and Musselman’s Apple Butter, plus a bit of bourbon, make them even better.
Make a large crockpot full, so you can use them for days and days!

Thank you
That’s what I was wondering can you leave out the bourbon
Hi Kathy, Just substitute water or juice! :)
If I wanted to leave out the bourbon, would I need to add some other liquid, or just leave it out?
Hi Terry, You can leave it out and add water.
How about canning them?
Love these! Can’t wait to try!
Could these be frozen?
Hi Sharon! Yes, you can freeze them, but when they thaw the consistency is a bit softer. Thaw completely without stirring, or they will turn into apple sauce.
Loving this recipe and looks so simple. How do you like your Kitchen Aid slow cooker….thinking I might need to invest in one.
Not only does it develop the best flavor, as you said, I’m sure your house smells amazing! I think I’ll use this recipe for apple milkshakes and over baked brie like you suggested. :) Happy Friday!
Now that’s a perfect fall dish! I want to make them and put them on everything!
