How To Broil Salmon in the Oven
First, turn the oven on to broil and set the top rack so that it’s about 6 inches from the top of the oven.
Prepare the salmon by cutting into 6 large or 8 small equal portions. Place onto a rimmed baking sheet, and gently pat the tops of each filet with a towel to remove any moisture.
Use a pastry brush to lightly coat each filet with oil, and sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.
Broil the salmon for 5 to 8 minutes, until lightly golden around the edges of each filet. It’s definitely better to slightly undercook than overcook the fish!

- Add the fresh herbs and lemon juice to the melted butter, and mix well.

Frequently Asked Questions
Tender, moist salmon is perfect to serve with vibrant veggie dishes, like Roasted Lemon Asparagus and Oven Roasted Broccoli. Enjoy also it with your favorite grains, like steamed rice or low carb Roasted Cauliflower Rice. Broiled salmon is also terrific to add to hearty and healthy salads, such as our Roasted Salmon Detox Bowl.
We love the bright flavors from using chopped parsley and dill. However, you can definitely change up the seasonings to suite your tastes! Swap the parsley and dill with fresh lemongrass, rosemary, tarragon, or even lemon zest. You can also use dried herbs and seasoning blends, like lemon pepper seasoning, in place of fresh herbs.
While this dish is best to enjoy when freshly prepared, leftovers will keep well for up to 3 days. Transfer cooled leftover salmon to a sealed container and store in the refrigerator.
