Frequently Asked Questions
Not quite. While they are both use avocado as a base, crema and guacamole are very different. Guacamole is purely mashed avocado with lime juice and spices (and sometimes other goodies, too). Avocado cream sauce includes sour cream as well, so it’s super rich and, well, creamy!
The sour cream and lime juice will help retain the green color of the crema. However, itโs not a bad idea to press a piece of plastic wrap down over the top of the crema before covering it with a lid.
It tastes freshest when enjoyed the day it is made. However, avocado cream will keep well for up to 5 days in the refrigerator, if covered well. Give it a good stir before serving.
I don’t recommend freezing this sauce. While you technically can, the texture will be way off after thawing.
