Lived here all my life. But not lucky enough to live on the coast. We do go alot to the coast but gets real crowded. Visit again and visit moosehead lake region. We have and camper and stay off the grid, fish, boat, go mooseing , and listen to the loons and watch the starrs @ night. Now thats living.

Avery interesting part of the state that shows you “Maine As IT Used to Be”. Blueberry barrens, authentic small fishing villages, the remnants of the sardine days of Maine, awesome hiking, lighthouses, all while giving you plenty of elbow room. Escape the crowds and head to the “real” Downeast Maine: Washington County. Visit the Roosevelt’s summer home on Campobello Island, just across the bridge from Lubec, Maine. While you’re in Lubec, stay at the comfortable and engaging Peacock House Bed and Breakfast, the premier accommodations in this beautiful corner of Maine. Take your trip to the eastern-most corner of the US and catch the break of dawn at the sun rises over the Bay of Fundy.

My husband and I are traveling to Maine this August. I wanted to travel up the coast. Thank you for all of the wonderful tips and ideas. I cannot wait to visit!! I am especially looking forward to trading the So Cal heat for the 70 degree weather and the lobster!!!

I’m very lucky.

We are traveling in the fall to Maine. If we fly into Portland how far is Bar harbor? Thinking of a 5 night trip but not sure where to stop and stay.

Battie.  It is such a beautiful place – something breath taking around every corner! So glad you had a great visit.
