Homemade Nut Butter
Who has a giant bag of raw nuts in their freezer right now… Can I get a hand raise?
Ok, who has a freezer full of nuts? Like five or more bags??
I am shamelessly raising my hand right
You never know when you might want to toast up some nuts for a salad, or throw some in a smoothie, or bake nutty cookies, or make your own nut butter.
I have almonds, cashews, pecans, pepitas, pine nuts, and of course walnuts in grand supply at this very minute.
It makes it easy to be impulsively creative when a recipe idea strikes!
Cinnamon Maple Walnut Butter Recipe
Of all the nut butter variations I have made and tasted over the last few years, this walnut butter with maple syrup and cinnamon just might be my favorite.
It tastes like a spreadable version of a rustic cookie or cake! Imagine spreading that over your plain-jane toast in the morning.
Plus, it’s vegan and packed with all sorts of healthy fats and amazing nutrients from the walnuts.
Benefits of Eating Walnuts
Did you know walnuts are considered one of the healthiest nuts? They are rich in Omega-3s, fiber, and vitamin B6.
They are also thought to…

- Boost and regulate digestion
- Clear up your skin
- Grow strong teeth, bones, and hair

That’s not too shabby of a list, if you ask me!
You can whip up a batch of this silky sweet 5-Ingredient Cinnamon Maple Walnut Butter is just minutes to spread on anything you like.
Walnut Butter Recipe Ingredients
- Walnuts – Raw. Fresh, or frozen and thawed.
- Maple Syrup – For sweetness and flavor.
- Neutral Flavored Oil – This helps thin out the nut butter, so it’s easier to spread. Use an oil that is not going to take away from the walnut flavor.
- Cinnamon – To create the “baked good” taste.
- Salt – Just a little, to enhance the flavor.
Does Homemade Nut Butter Need To Be Refrigerated?
Not at first. You can leave this is an airtight container, in your pantry, for up to three weeks.
However, if you plan to keep it for a longer amount of time, I would definitely refrigerate it.

This was delicious, but mine did not turn out creamy. Mine turned out hard and clumpy. Any suggestions
I will be making this very soon! Do you make this with toasted or raw walnuts? Looks yum. And healthy.
Hi Jillian,
Honestly, either! Toasted walnuts will provide a richer flavor, but there are more health benefits in raw walnuts.
