Destination Perfect S’mores

For some reason, we only make s’mores when we go to the lake or beach. Why is that?

It is not from a lack of fire pits at home or a shortage of marshmallow roasting sticks. There is not an issue with hunting down the sophisticated ingredients used for making s’mores.

Why do we save this simple, yet utterly divine, treat for camping and beach trips?

I have no idea. And better yet, I think we need to stop the madness. This magical dessert shouldn’t just be served as “destination smores”.

Super Simple S’mores

Yes, it’s fun to roast marshmallows over an open campfire and press them between graham crackers out of doors.

Yet if you are really craving s’mores you can make them right in your oven… In 2 minutes. With less mess.

Today’s “Smores in the Oven” recipe is a perfect large-batch treat for parties and movie nights.

You can make this recipe any time of the year, without frost-bitten toes or mosquito bites. No sticks required!

To make Easy Sheet Pan Smores in the Oven simply lay graham crackers out on a baking sheet. Place a chocolate square and marshmallow on top of each graham. Then broil to toast the marshmallows.

It’s that simple.

Oven S’mores Ingredients

  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows
  • Hershey’s Chocolate Bars

At the bottom of this post, we are sharing a revved-up version of this recipe if you wanted to “spice” things up a little bit!

How to Make A Smores Sandwich in the Oven

  1. Turn the oven on broil and then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Break all the graham crackers and chocolate into squares, to prepare for building the smores.
  3. Place 20 graham cracker halves on the sheet pan (or as many as you want to make.)
  4. Place the chocolate on top of the graham crackers and then top each piece of chocolate with a marshmallow.
  5. Place the sheet pan on the center rack of the oven and broil the smores for about 1 to 2 minutes. (Make sure to keep your eyes on this while they are in the oven. The marshmallows can burn very easily!)
  6. Once the marshmallows are at the toastiness level that you like, remove them from the oven and press another graham cracker square on top of each marshmallow to squeeze them all together.
  7. Enjoy your smores from the oven!

  3. Is that an 8th of a Hershey bar? That’s unsettling..

  4. I have some semi-sweet chips I need t use up – since the heating is being done on a flat surface in the controlled environment of the oven, do you think the chips would melt properly for these smores??

Also, what caramel sauce do you suggest for the Ritz cracker version?

    Thanks so much!! :)

    • Hi Deborah,

Sure, you can use chocolate chips! As for caramel sauce, it’s truly a matter of preference. You can pick something thin to drizzle or the thick kind to spread on the top cracker.

  5. It was too windy for a fire earlier, and by the time the wind calmed we didn’t want to bother. We tried these instead–easy and delicious, and no disappointed granddaughters! This will definitely be a go-to from now on!

  8. Darn it, I was hoping for a simple regular oven recipe. The only broiling I can do in my oven is in a small drawer underneath the regular oven. The marshmallows would almost certainly catch on fire, although I do like a dark roasted marshmallow. I guess I’ll just have to keep doing them over my gas range. :)

  9. My kids love making these. So fun and always delicious!

  18. Send to school?!?!? Where are you right now!!??! How irresponsible! I don’t vaccinate and I DON’T send my kids to school during a pandemic!!!

    • Hi Karen,

Sorry for the confusion… However, if you read the post you will notice this is actually an old post from several years ago. I am not telling anyone to send their children (or treats) to school right now during a pandemic.

      • Sommer, I found your recipe today and have ingredients to make this tonight during a family movie. I never thought that you meant for us to violate the law when watching your cute video. Keep the faith and please keep teaching the rest of us how to cook. You are needed more now than ever because we don’t get to go out! God-bless you, Sommer!

      • You don’t need to apologize. Common sense says this suggestion was before the pandemic ♥️

    • This is an old post🙄
No one is forcing you to take these to an empty school during a pandemic.
      Lol

    • well karen, for someone so awfully concerned about the pandemic, why not vaccinate so that there’s not another one for a disease easily controlled? guess we can’t expect decent parenting from someone who can’t read a timestamp on a website!

but i digress! thanks for the recipe, these were great 👌

    • Your name would be Karen too 🙄🤦‍♀️

    • The funniest part is your name is ACTUALLY KAREN 😂

  19. Super easy and fun! They came out delicious!
