Why We Love This Valentines Day Snack Mix

We absolutely love this Valentineโ€™s Day Trail Mix recipe for so many reasons! First, it strikes the perfect balance of sweet and salty with a delicious mix of crunchy pretzels, creamy yogurt-covered raisins, and chocolate Teddy Grahams. The vibrant pops of red and pink from the Valentine M&Ms and dried cherries make it festive and fun, adding a little extra love to any celebration.

This snack mix is also highly customizableโ€”you can swap out the cereals, dried fruits, or candies to suit your personal taste. Plus, itโ€™s an excellent gift idea! With the included printable Valentineโ€™s bag tags (you can find them here), you can easily package the trail mix into cute bags to share with teachers, friends, or loved ones. Best of all, itโ€™s super simple to make, so you can whip it up last minute for a fun and easy after-school festive snack mix.

  • Cut each sheet in half, then trim approximately 3/4 inch off each side to match the width of the snack bags.
  • Fold each card in half and use glue dots or a stapler to attach them to the tops of the bags. (We also used a paper punch to round the corners.)
  • Voila!

Homemade Trail Mix Valentine Snack makes a great Saturday project. The kids literally did everything from mixing to glue-dotting. They are SO excited to share these original Valentines with their friends.

How to Make Valentines Day Snack Mix

  1. Dump the ingredients in a large bowl and stir them together.

  3. Connect your Valentine’s card to the snack bag, using a stapler or glue dots, and deliver!

This homemade trail mix has all the right ingredients for pure Valentine’s joy. I left out the nuts in a traditional trail mix to keep it safe for all those with nut allergies, but the pretzels offer a salty bite to balance the sweetness. This is good stuff!

Recipe Variations

  • White Chocolate: Swap out the regular M&Ms for white chocolate M&Ms, or add some white chocolate chips for a creamy twist on the classic trail mix.
  • Cereal Swap: Transform the trail mix into Chex mix by using Corn Chex or Rice Chex in place of the Cheerios.
  • Peanut Butter: Toss in some peanut butter M&Ms or drizzle a little peanut butter over the mix for a sweet, nutty flavor that complements the pretzels and dried fruit.
  • Dark Chocolate: For a richer, more dessert-like flavor, use dark chocolate-covered raisins or pretzels or add dark chocolate chips for a more decadent version of this treat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many servings did you get out of these amounts of ingredients?

I managed to get about 34 half-cup servings from this mix, which you could definitely alter to make the amount that you need.ย

Could I add some nuts to this recipe?

Yes, this recipe could benefit from the saltiness of the nuts. I did not add them to my Valentine’s day snack mix because I did not want my kids to give them to any of their friends with a tree nut or peanut allergy.ย But almonds, cashews, or pecans would be really yummy!

How long will this recipe last?

This trail mix recipe will stay fresh for as long as one month depending on the ingredients and the amount of time that they are sealed in their snack bags.ย
