Hi Nathan!

Yes, you can. However, you should still brown the meat and sauté the veggies on the stovetop before adding them to the crockpot. This locks in the flavor of the meat and sweetens the veggies. Cooking time could vary greatly on the low and high settings… I would probably start with low for 6-8, then check it. You can also roast the potatoes as directed OR add them to the crock – which will extend the cooking time. Let me know if you give it a try!

Wonderful recipe. The only changes I made was 750 ml of wine plus 1 cup of wine and 1 cup venison stock instead of 2. I also cooked the onions first until almost clear then added the garlic and carrots.

I thought this was so complicated and hard to make given its name! Haha Glad I gave it a try! The instructions were easy to follow and it turned out full of flavors, scrumptious and my fam even thought that it was store-bought!

Hi Carol,

That’s up to you. Tenderloin meat would be very tender and delicious in this recipe.
