Ingredients You Need

  • Frozen ripe bananas and strawberries – see my easy tip below on how to freeze fruit
  • Yogurt – your choice of whole or low fat plain greek yogurt, strawberry, or vanilla yogurt
  • Milk – your choice of whole, 2% or skim milk, or incorporate dairy-free milk like almond or oat milk
  • Optional – granulated sugar, honey, or strawberry jam for a sweeter smoothie*

Prep Ahead Pro Tip: When you want to make smoothies on the fly, it’s important to always have frozen fruit in your freezer. I like to take bananas that are getting too ripe, cut them into chunks, and freeze them so they are ready to use. You can buy frozen strawberries at the grocery store or freeze your fresh strawberries for later use.

*You should not need a sweetener if the bananas and strawberries are ripe. However, sometimes store-bought frozen strawberries are not quite ripe when frozen. Add sugar or honey to taste to make the smoothie as sweet as you like. You can also add tablespoons of strawberry jam for sweetener and an extra boost of strawberry flavor!

How to Make the Best Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe

  1. Add the frozen fruit, yogurt, and milk to the jar of a high-powered blender.

Pro Tip: Don’t add any sweeteners until after you’ve blended the smoothie. We recommend tasting first, so you don’t wind up with a super sweet drink.

  1. Purรฉe until very smooth. This can take a couple of minutes, so be patient! Once it reaches a liquid-y but still thick consistency, give it a taste and sweeten as needed.
  2. Pour into 2 tall or 4 short glasses and serve immediately.

Bananas are a starchy fruit rich in potassium, but they do also contain a hefty amount of sugar and carbs. So, choose wisely how often to drink smoothies with bananas based upon your dietary preferences.
